It took me about an hour to do 3 rows. I think my biggest problem with the fair isle is that I'm not sure how to hold the yarn effectively, so it is very fiddly. Though that's not to complain. I'm enjoying trying to figure this thing out. However, I think I need a little break to look up some yarn holding techniques.
(oh, and I don't know why the camera decided to take a passable picture today. It is having a lot of fun toying with me. Too green, too pink, normal. Argh!)

Hey,
Congrats on the new job! And look at all of that loot from your pal. :)
If you're ever up for a trip to Pins and Needles, we should meet up there. I'm spending a lot of time at the library at PU finishing up the dissertation, so I'd love to meet.
Oh - and I showed up at P & N on that same Monday - totally bummed that they were closed.
Good luck with the fair isle. I had some trouble getting used to the double yarns, too.

I am going to take a class on fair isle at Stitches East. I am really looking forward to it. Are you holding one yarn in the left and one in the right? I learned to knit the English style but took a class on the continental style to get ready for the fair isle. I heard that it is easier to be comfortable with both styles. Good luck! :)

Hi Kim, I totally recommend holding one color in each hand. I know eliz. zimmerman recommends and explains this way in her books. it's a little awkward at first, but really moves along when you get a little practice in. it's never going to be as fast and brainless as st. stitch, but the results are very cool.
