So the end of the semester (at 2 different schools), multiple graduations, arranging to move to a new apartment, prepping for a summer class, and everything else have taken over and knitting has been pushed to the background (which is probably good because my hands have stopped itching since I stopped working with the STR Wild Tide).
Today, Kevin and I went to Ikea to pick out some new furniture for our new place. Here's Kevin's car stuffed with our purchases...
I was amazed that it all fit. Take a look at it all unloaded!
So do you want to see our new place?

Very nice apartment! It looks great (I like it a lot - looks clean and shiny and new.) I am in love with your shower curtain. I hope the moving goes smoothly - it's a nuisance.
We would have to drive 5 hours to get to Ikea. I wish it was closer, as there's no way I can convince my husband we should go there.

Nice apartment sockpal! I spy just a touch of stash in the office area. I hope all the books in boxes aren't textbooks. Can't wait to see the Ikea all built and in place. Ikea doesn't exist around me so I've never had the privilege of shopping there. We used to call our first apartment's decor early American dormroom. Then it was early American packing crate. Aka Target/Wal-Mart build-it-yourself. From what I understand Ikea is that but nicer.
Glad to hear you took the less expensive options on academic gowns. When you get to be tenured (if that's your career track) then you can invest in a gown to last through a lot of ceremonies. And congratulations on the dissertation defense. What color hood will you be receiving? (That is the right word for doctorial candidates isn't it?)
Re: Sockapalooza I've got a pattern picked out and the yarn is waiting. (You did say colorful right?) It won't be STR because I know you have that on your feet and in your stash. I expect to cast on later this week. Have a great week and may the move go swiftly and smoothly.

Hope moving is going well for you. It's both a pain and exhilirating, right?
I had to have a giggle at the picture of the books. You got those boxes from the East Brunswick Public Library annual book sale (Held at the East Brunswick Square Mall), didn't you? I grew up in EB and went every year. So my entire closet is full of used books in those boxes. But they are just the right size for carrying books. Big enough to hold a decent amount but small enough to carry easily.

Omigosh that's a lot of furniture boxes.
I love the book picture.
