Act II Done

If you could see it in person, you could start to see the sock taking shape. (And you would see how pretty it is. Evil, evil camera!!)

So funny story. Kevin and I had a bit of time to kill yesterday, so we went to Panera since they have free wireless internet (unlike Barnes and Noble who charge you a fee!!). Kevin was reading in one of the nice cushy chairs by the fireplace and I was looking at stuff on the computer, and then joined him in the other cushy chair and started knitting. After a few minutes, I felt someone watching me and looked up and there was a little girl about 7 years old standing about 3 feet away staring at me. So I said "hi." And she said "hi, are you knitting? what are you making?" I explained that I was making a sock although it looked kinda funny right now. And she told me how her grandmother knits and made her a turtleneck and some blankets. She asked some questions about how the yarn changes color and told me stories about her baby sister and her loose teeth. She was very fascinated by the knitting and very talkative. It was all very cute.

This all of course is in contrast to the 40 year old, mulleted dude who earlier saw me knitting and said "I gotta tell ya, you're the youngest person I've ever seen crocheting." That dude almost got a lecture.

Would you have lectured him about his comment or his choice of hairstyle or both? :)

I am having trouble figuring out the sock. Are you going to have to seam it? I find children to be so curious about knitting, I've actually thought about putting a pair of needles and yarn in my bag for the next curious little one.

Oh nice looking object as I call the sidewinder in its open stage, do you have the toes pocket yet? when you have that you can try it on your foot to show what the object is going to be.

Crocheting!!
Crocheting!!!!!
And -- and! -- where the hell has he been, not seeing youngsters knitting?????

Ack! it ate my comment!!
Dude needs to get out more, was the substance of it. :-)
