If ever there was a time...

...that I needed my knitting for making me feel better, it is right now. But I'm at work and my knitting is at home. I feel so sick to my stomach over this situation (quick and ambiguous version... I ruin students' lives by catching what they did wrong). I know I shouldn't feel bad about it, but it is hard to keep emotions under such tight control. Why didn't I throw my knitting in my bag? ARGH! Maybe looking at knitting for the next hour and half before class will help a little...

Almost done, almost done...

almost done, almost done...

Final today, final Monday, final Tuesday, and final Wednesday... grades submitted by Thursday night... graduation Saturday. And then done! (Fingers crossed that summer classes get cancelled....)

Kauni Clappy is very close to finished. I've been knitting on it exclusively when I have time to knit.

Last little thing before doing more work... I had this dream last night that I was at this outdoor event and Hilliary Clinton showed up. She was wearing this awesome knitted shrug and no matter how much I asked her about it she wouldn't tell me if she made it or what the pattern was.

Check out my sexy brains!

Catcalling-- creepy or a compliment?

Added:
I'm going to be interviewed live on the radio tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can listen live at 940 Montreal (there's a little listen live button in the left column). Does anyone know how to record streaming radio on the internet? Not that I'd want to listen to myself... oh no, I'm freaking out!!!

School Ends and Knits Get Done!

Two FOs for you tonight...

First up are the Pewter Socks. Knit from Louet Gems in Sport Weight, these socks are a pattern of my own invention. If you are so included, you can check them out on Ravelry and attempt to decipher my shorthand to make your own.

As you may or may not be able to see from the pictures (I was having a tough time taking pictures tonight), the cables actually twist in opposite directions on the two socks so they are not identical. (And yes I did that on purpose!)

Second FO for tonight is Kauni Clappy! Knit with three full repeats of rainbow (blue-purple-red-orange-yellow-green) it is huge. It is about twice my "wingspan."

And again, I apologize for the crappy pictures. I'll have to get a better action shot.

Retreat!

No, don't run away! Actually last Tuesday-Wednesday, I had to attend the mandatory new faculty retreat for my school. Everyone had very low expectations of what the retreat would be like, and I think we were all very pleasantly surprised that it was a lot of fun and very nice. I learned that another new faculty member is a knitter (yay!) and I hopefully got her hooked on Ravelry! We ate some great food and had a bit too much wine, which lead to a lot of laughing and joking. And the accommodations were unbelievable! We stayed in a hotel under the Hilton umbrella (but not actually a Hilton). And dork that I am, I took pictures of the room because I've never stayed in a super nice king-size hotel room by myself.

This was the view when I walked into the room. Huge bed! Huge flat screen TV!

That desk chair in the near left corner was really comfortable. I sat there and chatted with Kevin on the phone.

Bathroom, obviously.

You can't really tell, but I'm wearing my Ravelry "Daily Dose of Fiber" t-shirt. Also, the shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion were all Neutragena! (which all made their way into my bag and home with me!).

On the knitting front, I'm lacking some motivation in what to work on now that the Kauni Clappy is finished. I started a sock and I certainly have a lot of Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz projects on Ravelry, but I'm not feeling super inspired at the moment. Here's my sock of the moment**...

**Speaking of "of the moment," the restaurant at the hotel didn't have a soup of the day, it had a soup of the moment, which we took to mean that the soup could change at any second, so you'd better order quick!

2 hours, 10 minutes

What did I do today for 2 hours and 10 minutes?

Knit?

Nope. Actually it is almost 10pm and I haven't knit today at all! (I'll do a few rows after posting).

Read a book?

Not even close.

Time needed to finish the Sunday crossword puzzle?

Nah. Kevin and I had a pretty good combined time today, but more importantly we finished with only 2 wrong boxes.

Worked in the garden?

Hahahaha! You haven't been reading long have you? Well actually, we just planted our garden yesterday (tomatos and peppers and herbs), but I mostly "supervise" as Kevin actually touches the dirt.

Took a nap?

Good guess. I did nap through most of the Mets game yesterday, but no nap today.

We give up!! What did you do?

I exercised!!!!! In fact, I exercised an hour and half yesterday as well! No, I'm not becoming a fitness fanatic, but I do have a new motivator to get into shape.

I've been Wii Fitting since Wednesday. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this game. There's yoga, strength training, aerobics, and balance games. Most of my time is spent in aerobics and balance games, but I have unlocked just about everything (I haven't unlocked the long run because I don't like running and so haven't played that one as much). I love the aerobics, especially the hoola hooping and rhythm boxing. I can work up a good sweat doing those.

My (non-school related) goal for the summer is to exercise every weekday and make exercising a habit. I don't particularly enjoy working out, but my plan is that if it becomes part of my daily routine, I'll keep it up and get fit. I'm hoping that the Wii Fit makes it more fun and I can "play" that in combination with some more serious sculpting and cardio work.

Totally unrelated, but do you like the new blog look?
