Arm update... last night after leaving the splint and wraps off for about an hour, I decide to stop using the splint and just wrap the elbow for support. Boy did that help me to sleep better! The new plan is to leave it unwrapped while just sitting around at home, and to wrap the elbow when going anywhere or sleeping. The only pain is when I try to extend or flex too much, and most of that is an achy muscle type of pain (akin to if you did 800 bicep curls with a 20lb weight). I really wanted to leave the splint off because it is really f-ing up my wrist more than anything. Aside from the muscle stiffness achy pain, my wrist is what really hurts to move and use. I think (in my nonmedical opinion) that the wraps and splint were forcing the swelling to move to areas that were more able to puff up, and with the help of gravity, that swelling moved to my wrist and hand, and that's causing the wrist pain. My hand/wrist is so puffy that I wore my fetchings (which are stretchy, and loose normally) and had ribbing marks when I took it off. So as I sit here enjoying the NYTimes magazine, I've got my arm elevated to hopefully depuff my hand/wrist.
And speaking of the NYTimes magazine, the cover story is on female desire and very interesting. In fact, one part sparked a whole set of interesting research questions related to my own research projects! I need to find some of the research articles discussed and read the info for myself, but if the journalist didn't take it way out of context, I may have a few new avenues to steer my research down. Yay!

Yup, that was a great round-up article. Still not sure I buy the ol' active/receptive wine even in a new wineskin, but the physiological/phenomenological dissonance researchers observed in women is fascinating. I think it was Ellen Willis - along with lots of other folks - who said that the most important sexual organ is between the ears.
Interesting, too, for this veteran of the 1980's lesbian sex wars to see this subject discussed so calmly 20 years later in the NY Times.
