Random Wednesday

  • I decided I couldn't stand my hair as it was anymore, so I went for the Carey Mulligan this morning. It turned out a little shorter than hers and a little straighter (such is my hair), but I think it looks cute. It was probably the fastest haircut ever since my hair just needed a restyling and not a full cutting. I'm happy with it, but as also the day after is always the real decision time.

  • After my haircut, I went and got my nails done. It was a Wednesday of pampering. If I had the time and money for the pedicure, it would have been awesome.

  • There were some ladies at the nail salon, of a certain type and I really hate to stereotype, but well... they were completely confirming the stereotypes about themselves. Honestly, shouting across someone sitting in between you (me) about each of your babies dirty diapers and the resulting gradients of rash from failure to change the diaper in time is not appropriate public conversation. Yeah, maybe if you were sitting next to each other talking, but you were at opposite ends of the salon with someone sitting in between you.

  • And the rudeness didn't end with those two, two other ladies were sitting at the nail dryers when I sat down to dry. They were having a private conversation before I sat down, which is perfectly fine. What I don't appreciate is the continued dirty looks for "invading" their little private area. Hello... it is a nail salon and their set up is to group up to 6 people at the dryers... it isn't your living room that I walked into. Then they proceeded to half whisper and give me dirty looks to make sure that I wasn't listening. But neither lady was very good at whispering, and moreover, I don't know the people you are talking about and could care less.

  • All of my classes are behind where I'd like them to be and we're only in the 4th week of the semester. I'm trying very hard to be cool with this. Being behind is a product of the students being participatory and spending extra time discussing topics that interest them.

  • Yesterday I got a free ride on the express bus because the driver was really nice and realized that the bus I was waiting for was not coming for quite some time.

  • I've really got to get some work done now......
