Stockpiling

Are there products that you stockpile because you know that a time will occur when you don't have the product and you'll really really need it?

Now of course, the items that get stockpiled seem to change from time to time. About a year ago, it was butter. For some reason, I was convinced every time we went to the grocery store that we needed more butter. This was aided by the fact that when unpacking the groceries, I'd see all the butter in the fridge and start hiding the new butter in the far corners. The butter stockpiling has ended. It then moved into dish soap. Now we are on to band-aids.

I noticed late last week that we had some odd band-aids (the weird shaped ones for knuckles and fingertips) and only a couple normal ones. I asked Kevin to pick some up at the store. Unfortunately the local grocery store is so poorly stocked that he had few options and came home with a box of random band-aids (a few sport, a few waterproof, a few tough) and some generic band-aids (his subconscious remembered my ban on Curad bandages because they destroy my skin with their evil glue).

Today I happened to be in the pharmacy and decided to purchase more band-aids. And because I'm a weirdo, I decided to organize the band-aids in the medicine cabinet. Small ones, medium ones, big ones, and weird ones. Now we're mostly set for quick first-aid of minor injuries... I say mostly because I'm in band-aid hoarding mode... so I'll probably still buy more the next time I'm at the store.
