Rhinebeck or Bust!

Saturday was a great escape from the crushing grind of work work work. We four knitters traveled up 87 to Rhinebeck for what is hopefully becoming our annual yarn and sheep extravaganza!

The weather was beautiful and the crowds were large. I made a friend at the BBQ line, a chatty older gentleman who told me about his trip to Texas and eating real BBQ.

Yarn was fondled and purchased. I spent a little more than I had wanted, but some things couldn't be resisted and others are gifts. I'll take some pictures of the bounty soon to share.

As always, looking at and watching the animals was a lot of fun. I miss the sheep dogs and their herding tricks that you get to see at Maryland. A curious little alpaca wiped its nose on my jacket sleeve. But my favorite animal was...

If I could have smuggled this fluffy angora bunny under my jacket, I totally would have. The bunny was the softest thing I've ever pet. It was so calm and gentle and didn't seem to mind all of the people clambering to touch it. I really want a bunny now.

Although I also wouldn't mind having this funny guy either:

Apparently the food at the bottom of the bowl was much better than the food at the top. Poor guy had hay all up in his hair.

Here is some alpaca video:

And another favorite... a chewing Llama!
